It's Time to Write in the Journal

This year, 2007, marks Tapissary’s 30th anniversary. To celebrate, I’ve been making adjustments to the grammar. The journal is my practice sheet where I merge linguistic invention with my daily experiences.

"Spoken" Tapissary comes in 2 flavors. "Tapisi" sounds like a French Slavic blend, while "Sevens" takes English vocabulary as its base. The celloglyphs (hieroglyphs) are written the same for both the Tapisi and Sevens styles. These two spoken forms can also be written with the Latin alphabet, as seen in the following entries. For the time being, I'm focusing on Sevens.

The formulae you see preceding each phrase below (such as: [≈] + V ) refer to the cyclic grammar.

Images and Vocabulary. I base these short Tapissed texts on images. The illustrated entries give me daily practice with language, drawing and/or photography. Each day I highlight a vocabulary word, showing how it fits into a sentence.

Yesterday I didn’t post a vocabulary word, so I’m making up for it today with six çelloglyphs. Note that the masculine arrow and feminine cross distinguish a prince from a princess. If you remove the marker, you will be left with the base word... a child of a royal couple. The cross and arrow show up in other words to show female and male, such as parent becoming mother and father, etc...

.

NOTE: The çelloglyph meaning 'abstract' can be written in many ways of which I've written a few above. The base is a cross. Each of the four regions partitioned by that cross may yield any combination of bars and crosses, providing there is always at least one cross or one bar in the composition. For example, the 4 regions cannot be composed exclusively of bars without any crosses. The same is true for a field of only crosses, which would not fit the meaning of 'abstract'.
